Four parking spaces have been designated for persons with disabilities within the car park in front of the passenger terminal.

How to Recognize Reserved Spaces

Parking spaces for persons with disabilities are located in the first row of the parking lot, closest to the passenger terminal, and are clearly marked with both sign and markings.

Route to Terminal Entrance

The route from designated accessible parking spaces to the passenger terminal is fully wheelchair accessible. Exit from the parking spaces to the sidewalk is equipped with sloped curb that meet accessibility standards, featuring appropriate incline and width to ensure safe and smooth passage for wheelchair users and other passengers with reduced mobility.

Wheelchair and Escort Assistance

Upon receiving information that a passenger requires a wheelchair and/or escort to reach the passenger terminal from the parking area and/or taxi stand, airport staff will promptly meet and assist the passenger at the specified location.

Facility Details & Availability

The door of the accessible toilet opens outwards and is fitted with a lever handle, allowing easy operation with minimal effort. A clear floor area with a minimum diameter of 1.5 meters is provided inside the accessible toilet to accommodate wheelchair turning. "Washing basin at an accesible height, with knee clearance below Lever operated tap Mirror positioned for seated users Soap dispenser, paper towels, and waste bin within reach " High-contrast markings are applied to the toilet walls to enhance visual perception for partially sighted persons. The toilet door is equipped with Braille signage to assist persons with visual impairment in identifying the accessible facility. The toilet fixture is equipped with a horizontal grab bar on the right-hand side, positioned at a height of 70–85 cm from the floor, to support lateral transfer and provide stability for users with limited mobility.

Check-in Assistance

Airport staff escort passengers with reduced mobility to the check-in area, where they are given priority service. Staff also provide assistance with the check-in procedure as needed, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to the passenger’s journey.

Arrival Time Advice

Passengers with reduced mobility are advised to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to their scheduled flight departure. This allows adequate time for check-in, security procedures, and any required assistance to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience. Please note that the exact recommended arrival time may vary depending on the airline’s specific policy, so passengers should also check with their airline when planning their arrival.

Designated Meeting Point and Continuous Assistance

The airport information desk also serves as the designated meeting point for passengers with reduced mobility. From this point onward, the staff provide continuous support and escort the PRM passenger through every stage of the airport process—including check-in, security screening and boarding. This dedicated assistance ensures that the PRM passenger is cared for throughout their journey within the airport, with staff attending to their needs and facilitating smooth and comfortable passage all the way to the aircraft door and, if needed, to the aircraft seat.

Priority access: Passengers with reduced mobility and passengers with disabilities are given priority in order to minimize waiting time.
Passenger screening: In accordance with security regulations, all passengers, including those with reduced mobility and disabilities, will undergo security screening. The screening may include passing through a walk-through metal detector, a manual pat-down, or inspection with a hand-held metal detector. This process is always carried out with respect for the passenger’s privacy and dignity.
Private screening: A private room for individual screening will be available at the passenger’s request.
Inspection of assistive devices: All personal assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs will be subject to security screening.
Staff assistance: Security officers are trained to act carefully and respectfully and to provide all necessary support.

Assisted Security Screening

Throughout the entire security screening process, the assigned airport staff member remains with the passenger with reduced mobility, providing continuous support.

Boarding with Personal Wheelchair

PRM may use their own wheelchair up until boarding the aircraft, at which point the wheelchair is placed in the aircraft’s baggage hold. Wheelchair boarding procedures for electric wheelchairs, especially those with lithium batteries, depend on the airline and the type of battery.Airlines may require the battery to be securely attached to the wheelchair or for the battery to be removed and carried separately in a protective case. Mobility aids such as crutches, canes, walkers are generally allowed onboard (some operational details may vary depending on airline policy)

Route from Security to Boarding Gate

Airport staff escorts PRM passenger to the baording gate. Airport staff attends the PRM passenger while at the boarding gate, to ensure their comfort and well-being by providing appropriate seating in close proximity to the assigned departure gate. Staff remains readily available at all times to assist the PRM passenger with any inquiries, provide necessary information, and offer assistance as needed.

PRM Boarding Equipment

Podgorica Airport is equipped with an ambulift for boarding and disembarking passengers who are unable to navigate stairs, as well as manual stair-climbing chairs for accessing the aircraft. In addition, a low-floor bus is used to transport passengers between the terminal and the aircraft.

Boarding Procedure

Boarding procedure of wheelchair passengers is based on the wheelchair passenger category: WHCR - Passenger can walk short distances, ascend/descend stairs, and manage within the aircraft cabin without assistance - Airport staff remains available to assist with distance walking as needed. WCHS - Passenger cannot use stairs but can move independently within the aircraft. - Ambulift is used for boarding, WCHC - Passenger is completely immobile and requires full assistance at all stages of the journey. - Ambulift is used for boarding. If ambulift is not available a manual stair climber is used. A minimum of two trained staff members are present for manual handling. All movements are conducted with care to avoid injury or discomfort. WCHC - The passenger is carefully transferred from their standard wheelchair (or ambulift chair) into the aisle wheelchair. Upon reaching the reserved seat, the staff assist in transferring the passenger from the aisle chair to their aircraft seat. Assistance includes lifting or sliding the passenger, ensuring their comfort and safety during the transfer.

Request for Assistance at the Flight Booking Stage

PRM passengers are required to notify the airline of their need for assistance when booking their flight ticket, and no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. When booking a flight ticket, a PRM passenger is obliged to inform the airline about any circumstances that may be relevant for safe and unhindered travel. The type and scope of information to be provided depend on the rules and requirements of the specific airline, and most commonly include details regarding:

the need for special assistance at the airport and during boarding/disembarkation,
the type and degree of disability, i.e. mobility limitations,
the use of mobility aids (wheelchair, crutches, etc.),
the presence of an escort, guide, or assistant.

The airline, on behalf of the passenger, informs the airport of the request for assistance.
If the request is submitted at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, the airport is obliged to provide the requested assistance.
If the request is submitted less than 48 hours before departure, the airport operator is required to make every effort to provide the necessary assistance; however, the final decision on accepting the passenger for travel rests with the airline, in accordance with its policy.

Although passengers PRM are advised to prenotify the airline of their need for assistance, airport staff are nonetheless obligated to provide the necessary assistance as promptly as possible if a request is made upon arrival.

Continuous Assistance Through the Airport

The person is accompanied and supported all the way from the airport entrance, without interruption, to the seat on the plane – including check-in, security control and the boarding gate. Staff also provide assistance in the waiting area and remain available for additional requests (e.g., going to the toilet, water, communicating with staff).

PRM passengers are given priority during boarding

Boarding of PRM passengers, accompanied by airport staff, is carried out using an ambulift or manual stair-climbers, depending on the type of aircraft. At the aircraft door, the passenger is transferred from their own or airport-provided wheelchair to a narrow aisle chair used for movement within the cabin. The passenger is then seated in the assigned seat, while their belongings are stored in the overhead compartment or under the seat. From the moment the passenger is seated, cabin crew assume responsibility for the passenger and provide assistance throughout the flight until the passenger is ready to disembark.

Respect and Professional Conduct

Assistance is provided through communication and cooperation with the passenger in a manner that respects their dignity and integrity.

Return Journey Assistance

On return, the entire procedure is repeated in reverse, with the same level of care and attention—from exiting the aircraft to leaving the terminal.
